Life as a DJ #02 lazy 2nd advent (a daily update)
After being busy in the studio the last days, and collecting and creating ideas of marketing and publishing for my label, i have a day watching business tutorials over social media marketing strategies, copyrights and royalties, and a nice youtube analytics video.
Yes this means a lazy day to me ... learning !!
Downloaded some new music magazines, from Music Tech, Studio Recording, and the new Beat magazine, and exported them to my iPad, to have them with me in bed if tv is boring.
It's around 20.00 o'clock and i am wondering if i should go back to work a bit more out of the tutorials and write some hints down to my evernote app., go back to work on the music of my youtube channel trailer, what i wanted to do for a long time now ( i can remember starting the idea back in june :/ ), or if i am watching breakin dawn on tv or just watch another episode of breakin bad on my blu ray player.
I bet i will end up with my iPad in bed watching half tv and reading some magazines...
I will tell you tomorrow for sure..
And tomorrow is another productive week ahead, and remember...
MONDAYS AREN'T BAD IF YOU LIKE YOUR JOB !!

Life as a DJ #01 - Hello Everybody
Hello everybody !!I am Matthias Seibert, deejay and producer living half of the year in Ibiza, and half of the in Germany. I was deejaying nearly all major clubs and venues in Ibiza, and actually i am resident of a new event agency, Ibiza Beatz.
So yeah, I pay my bills as a professional deejay and producer, but beside the happy life as an artist with listening and creating new music, going out to party, and being wasted all time like everybody is thinking about our job, in real this one isn't for someone who is lazy, doesn't believe in himself,
or can't handle ups and downs in life (not only in a career way as you are self employed !!).
I am trying to write on this blog as much as i can, and time will allow, and for me personal this blog means a lot more as just putting something out to the internet to reach someone, it's more a personal documentary i wanna start, to let people see, how much energy stands behind a dj/producer who is running his business with and in his own hands, hopefully protecting you from some misstakes, but in general giving you some inside knowledge about my life, and my career in prior. I am not the biggest deejays of all time (even if i am working on it), but after spending nearly half of my life in this business, playing 6 summers in Ibiza nearly daily and having seen both, the good and the bad sides in a life as a deejay, i am definitely able to pretend you with tips and tricks, as well as lovely little stories, this job is bringing to us artists.
Also I didn't had a history of musicians in my family, weather they had a real passion for it.
Okay a little bit of talent everybody needs to be successful, but in general working in the music industry is a hard way of being gentle to and with everybody, and working your ass of 24/7 with believing in yourself, and knowing what you are doing (like in every other company).
I've started deejaying in a time where the internet wasn't the major tool and in every house hold, so i came from a time, where you needed to spend time outside to get a job, as well as there wasn't a sync button on my turntables or a illegal download blog where i can download my music from for free.
Nowadays you just need a notebook, an internet connection, and a telephone, to get everything sorted you need to sort out, but don't believe this costs you less time.
It's the opposite !!
You spend more time with sitting on your laptop and your phone, as you will go out for party, or your private life, as you are a whole bunch of people in one person.
Depending on how much knowledge to side projects you have, you can find yourself as:
web & graphic designer, internet administrator, head of social media marketing, content writer, promoter, manager, booking manager, tour manager, financial agent, press agent, event manager, marketing manager, lawyer, video editor & creator, campaign creator, before you spend your private time being in the studio, focusing on productions and much much more ( i don't think life as a dj is the perfect job for having a healthy relationship...).
What i suggest is to save money, to set up your company in a proper way, as 1st you need a lot of money for equipment for your studio and computer surroundings, and a lot of money, you don't think of now !!!
Also you need to know, that gettin' into a position, where you are that big to get mostly of all those work away to specialists, you definitely need in the perfect condition one year, working 24/7.
I will show you how to get your skills in producing, deejaying and entertaining in the right light, and your name into a position, where you can live from your work in the music industry, without having a booking agent or a management.
Beside my tips and do's and dont's around setting up your "company" in a proper way, i will also include production and deejay technics, tips for your studio, some days in life of myself to show you some practical things, and of course some news about me as deejay and music manager at Ibiza Beatz, opening my own record label Separat, and other things in life, i am interessted in.
I hope you will have some fun, but also learn at least a bit it
Happy 2nd advent and don't take this post as your blackbook ;)
Matthias
